Operation Independence is a program to help disabled U.S. Veterans gain their independence in a wheelchair accessible van by VMI.

Through a close partnership of VMI, VMI Select Dealers, and Paralyzed Veterans of America, the program will help veterans learn about their eligibility and “navigate” the V.A. Automobile Allowance ("Auto Grant") and Automobile Adaptive Equipment approval process.

Independence is now an affordable reality for more disabled veterans than ever before!

MIKE CELEBRATING 30-YEAR MOBILITY ANNIVERSARY!

30 years ago, this fresh-faced kid applied for a job at Handi-cap Aids of Oklahoma. He was a Junior at Edmond Memorial High School, participating in their DECA program. Getting hired meant some icy cold commutes on his motorcycle until he could afford a cheap used car to drive. He came, he stayed in the industry, he worked hard, and in 2002, this “kid” took a giant step.  He purchased the goodwill of the former company and founded Handi-cap Aids Co.

On November 28, 2011, our owner Mike Bradshaw proudly celebrated his 30th anniversary in the mobility industry! Mike and Handi-cap Aids are an American small-business story made more special by the amazing customers we serve.

Proud To Be “Best Friends”

The Mid-America Chapter of Paralyzed Veterans of America recently honored Mike and Kim Bradshaw with MAPVA’s Jim West Award. As individuals and as owners of Handi-cap Aids & Mobility Auto Sales, Mike and Kim were recognized for their continued service and support of MAPVA and of all disabled citizens.

The award and the Bradshaws' relationship with MAPVA were also described in a wonderful article in the Chapter Spokesman magazine, titled “Best Friends” of MAPVA. The article was written by Hodge Wood, who also spent a lively day with Mike and Kim here in their business environment.

Mike, Kim, and our whole team are deeply honored to work with America’s veterans and to support the excellent work and programs of Paralyzed Veterans of America. (Mike would confess that one of his favorite programs is the PVA Fishing Tournament, no matter how hard it rains, no matter how chilly those early morning boat runs on the lake.)

There’s a saying that people can be judged by the friends they keep. Being “BFF’s” with MAPVA puts us in excellent company!
